Hotel Type
Beach Hotel
Located a half-mile from the beach on Fort Pond in Montauk, the property is one of the reasons for Montauk's hipster resurgence now with new ownership and management for 2012. The lobby furnishings blend beach chic elements of rattan and sea grass with surfboard artwork and Americana colors of red, white and blue. The lodge melds indoor and outdoor architecture with a restaurant and bar serving locally sustained ingredients and market-fresh produce in an authentic beach menu. For those on a calorie restrictive lifestyle, The Deck is a spectacular patio-style lounge overlooking Fort Pond with evening DJs and bar scene featuring top-of-the-line performers for its summer concert series. For those that just want to hit the beach, be sure to stop into the Beach Shop with its plethora of snazzy beach accessories, sunglasses and swim that's quite the rage.
The Room
Located a short walk from the beach and short drive for the true glitz of the inner Hamptons, this groovy getaway is a throwback to the ‘60s summer scenes that dotted many of the area beach communities. Rooms are the most simplistic you'll ever stay in, accessorized in Kuhn-style surf photographs around hanging rattan chairs and sliding glass doors opening to private balconies with hammock. The prerequisite I-Pod docking station is present as well as flat-screen TVs and DVD players for those dreaded summer hangover days. Entry-level rooms offer compact queen-size beds with small dressing table outfitted with heavy-duty art books and eclectic tablewares. While bathroom aren’t exactly a cutout of your favorite Four Season’s resort, the bleak spaces are well balanced with high-end toiletries and fluffy linens. Those on a bigger budget should book on of the 12 suites with individual courtyard outfitted with private hot tubs and lounger fit for long intimate afternoons.
