The Las Vegas pool scene has come a long way since the poolside chicken fights and margarita bongs of Rehab at the Hard Rock. Now, it’s a mix of high-profile DJs, $5k bottle service and eye-candy face-offs to see who has the sexiest, most famous or just the showiest spenders in their cabana. .
MGM’s WET Republic returns for Spring weekends and takes on more of a house line-up than in previous years complete with hosted events by Calvin Harris (April 7th) and Nervo. Wynn’s Encore Beach Club, our favorite of last season, lures back Steve Angello and David Guetta as well as Dirty South and Avicii for regular engagements. Marquee Day Club at the Cosmopolitan maintains a similar talent roster from last year including its highly popular Saturday party with Kaskade. Notable trends for 2013 include the absence of hip-hop and celebrity sponsors so far for the year.
But perhaps the biggest headline is the 5,000-person Daylight Beach Club opening along the shores of the Mandalay Bay with impressive musical line-up that include Alesso, Nicky Romero and Sebastian Ingrosso that may give Encore a run for the A-List cabana crowd.
