An iconic hotel complex along Ibiza's main port home to its lone casino, Ibiza Gran is a well-conceived design hotel that resurrects a once-drab mid-rise resort along the Paseo Maritimo opposite the walled city. A somewhat unfortunate façade and concrete sprawl yields to a dramatic interior of black granite floors juxtaposed to a sedate, modern décor designed by Toni Esteva. Spacious breezeways rise the height of the hotel complex allowing natural light to reflect off an impressive collection of modern Spanish artist arranged within stylish lounge areas that connect to the hotel's signature eatery, lounge bar and corridor leading to the outdoor pool deck.
Outside, a sprawling pool deck offers cool crowd of hipsters as well as the occasional rowdy family with all-day cocktail service and Pool Restaurant. Those that hesitate to stay at any property home to a casino should keep in mind the facility is kept separate from most of the hotel and offers a more upscale vibe than that of your usual resort-based gambling hall. The in-house OPEN spa is also a top attraction, even for non-hotel guests, with its creamy limestone plunge pools with direct access to private treatment rooms, yoga facility and fitness center that's the largest in the region.
The Room
Truly the top luxury hotel of its size on Ibiza, a complete overhaul of this property prior to opening resulted in an architectural refurbishment seen through large-pane glass windows overlooking the historic Dalt and upgraded balconies and patios now found off most guest rooms and suites. Interiors feature sustainable bamboo floors with creamy neutral color palette on leather tufted walls or headboard details. Bathrooms are serine spaces with limestone details and chrome fixtures with direct access to custom-made wardrobes of exotic zebrawood. Larger suites offer direct access to the pool deck in addition to private whirlpools arranged next to interior windows or on the terrace itself.
