Local blogs, fancy newspapers and city guides have followed the opening of 1 Oak like an obsessed schoolyard crush. After a few bureaucratic glitches and a delayed opening, the ubiquitous social lounge is alas open for boozing. Its owners are the best of the best, true blue blood club owners and promoters who's past roster includes G Spa and Lounge, Bowery Bar and and Butter.
A wooden doorway leads to a dark hallway imprinted with gold leaf writing from various philosophers. The main lounge area is laid in black-and-white striped floors with circular leather banquettes and light fixtures made from recycled bike tires. The door was once the toughest in town with hipsters touting every contact they have ever had with owners Jeffrey Jah, Scott Sartiano, and Ronnie Madra just to get inside, but these days it's a bit more loose especially on midweek nights.
