La Cigale is no new name to Paris cabaret having hosted names like Mistinguett, Maurice Chevalier and Eugénie Bufet from its gothic revival stage that got a designer makeover in 1987 by Philippe Starck. Today it's become one of the hottest live music platform in the city with an ingenious creative director that manages to lineup acts from Charlotte Gainsbourg and Rufus Wainwright to Miles Kane and Ryan Adams for intimate sold-out jam sessions. Guests arrive to a lackluster façade with deco signage that leads to a grand foyer with checkerboard marble floors and series of parlors with ruby red carpet and marble drinking bar. Inside the main theater, a gold-leaf ceiling wraps around a two-level auditorium with Gothic revival detailing that makes even its superstar performers feel the magic of a place known simply as La Cigale.
