We stumbled upon Stair after a whirlwind shopping trip to Commes des Garcons and suggestion that it was the closest bar for a chic afternoon champagne. Never one to disappoint a man dressed in head-to-toe Rei Kawakubo, we decided to tuck-inside and see if it lived up to his magical charms. Located atop boutique Dresscamp, Stair is a fusion cocktail lounge and cafe-style eatery offering a lively afternoon happy hour with live music and super-dressed singles scene. A well-heeled fashion crowd arrives to a cozy passageway leading to the stylish space lined in lounge sofa-style banquettes and long bar attended by dapper bartenders. Luckily, we advised the hostess of our chap back at Commes des Garcons and were immediately led to a booth scattered in 'Reserved' signs. The space is lit in geometric patterns varying between snake scales and zebra-stripes surrounding a large picture window overlooking a manicured Tokyo cityscape. Those looking for a lite snack discover a menu of continental faire including a rotisserie chicken, noodle and vegetable dishes perfect for a pre-dinner champagne snack.
